I was in Druid Hill Park under a cherry tree with the idea of making a video piece. I was wearing my flowered dress with bright red splotches set against lichen green. I started to leave my camera balanced on a tree branch, nestled amongst the blossoms. It was a windy day and when there was a strong gust the camera would fall. The waiting and falling interested me the most; it felt like collaboration with wind. I did this repeatedly and in the middle of my efforts a family came over – dad, mom and toddler in a stroller. The mom asked for permission to take my photograph and the dad took my picture standing by the tree. He showed me the pictures and said he was really getting into photography, starting small with a point and shoot camera but working towards graduating to something bigger. He had already taken a number of pictures of me before they had approached, documenting my performance surreptitiously. Tristan, the toddler, came over to me and I tickled his belly and plucked a blossom for him. I was so friendly that I think his mother felt uncomfortable and they left. This video still is from my camera accidentally recording while I played with Tristan.
