Eileen Cowin
He got the F train on 14th Street and 6th Ave. It was 7 stops to Kings Highway where he changed for the A. It was 16 stops to Mott Ave. He read the NY Post because he couldn’t get the hang of the NY Times subway fold. This embarrassed his daughters. The whole trip took 64 minutes and it was a 10-minute walk to the apartment. It was Thursday; she would be making Swedish meatballs. The table would be set and everything would be ready as soon as he walked in the door. He wished he could have a few minutes to relax but that wasn’t an option. Last night someone knocked on the door in the middle of dinner (veal chops). She made them take the dishes into the kitchen before they answered the door. After dinner he sat at the table and worked on his paint by numbers canvas. He got great pleasure filling in those light blue lines. He was working on a landscape. He had just filled in the dark green in the tree when she came over and smeared the paint all over the canvas.
