Mimi Plumb

I remember having insomnia for a time when I was 9 years old. John F. Kennedy had been shot, and maybe more frightening, there had been the Cuban missile crisis. My mother told me that there might be a nuclear war. I spent many nights getting out of bed repeatedly to look at the clock. Late into the night, I also worried about not sleeping. Years later I shot this picture in the bedroom of a burnt out home, part of a series of images called apocalyptic dreams.
