Manuel Alvarez Bravo was a major figure in 20th century photography. His work is notable for its elegant blending of material fact and lyricism. He was born in and lived primarily in Mexico where he mentored and / or worked with artists such as Tina Modotti, Diego Rivera and Graciela Iturbide. Bravo died in 2002 at the age of 100.
