At birth my twin sister and I were devastatingly premature and ailed with a plethora of complications, notably cerebral palsy. I have been first-hand witness to my twin sister’s more challenging and often difficult health. Living through these challenges, and seeing her conditions granted me an acute awareness of the delicateness of life. To contrast the misfortune of sickness, hospital visits, and illness I began to look at commonplace occurrences through a different lens that placed emphasis on realizing the hidden beauty of everyday objects and situations. I found a silver lining by perceiving the beauty that is shared within the frail body, and commonplace objects. This appreciation led me to perceive inspirational beauty in the misfortune of trauma, challenging circumstances, and death.
